When Malvina Hoppe was in Turkey, involved in a nature-protection project during her B.A. studies in Biology, she was fascinated by a group of young Turkish girls belly dancing at a beach bar. On her return to Germany she promptly joined a belly dance class at her local night school . A large influence on her new hobby was the dancing and costumes in the much slated vampire movie, ‘Queen of the Damned‘. Malvina‘s favourite form of belly dance is the ‘American Tribal style‘: a modern fusion of traditional and contemporary movements that is danced with a group of women which improvises each time they dance. She currently practices weekly with her 'tribe' of seven (InfiniteTribal). Together they dance publicly a few times a year at various events and street festivals.
Malvina has different costumes for each style of Belly dance she does… her favourite though is definitely the extravagant Gypsy look of the ‚American tribal Style‘. Her costume weighs 4 Kilo and two of her silver bangles once belonged to her grandmother.

Als Malvina Hoppe im Rahmen ihres Studiums der Biologie an einem Naturschutz-Projekt in der Türkei teilnahm, faszinierte sie eine Gruppe junger Bauchtänzerinnen, die in einer Strandbar ihr Können zeigten. Als sie nach Deutschland zurückkam, ging sie sofort in einen Bauchtanz-Kurs der VHS. Ein anderer Impuls zu ihrem Hobby kam von einem Tanz und einem Kostüm in dem – von der Kritik total verrissenen – Vampirfilm „Königin der Verdammten“. Malvinas Lieblings-Tanzstil ist der „American Tribal Style“: eine Verschmelzung von traditionellen und modernen Elementen, die von mehreren Frauen gemeinsam improvisiert getanzt wird. Im Moment probt sie einmal pro Woche mit ihrem siebenköpfigen "Stamm“ Infinite Tribal. Die Truppe tanzt mehrmals im Jahr öffentlich bei unterschiedlichen Events und Straßenfesten.
Für jeden Stil des Bauchtanzes, den Malvina beherrscht, hat sie ein anderes Kostüm. Aber am liebsten kleidet sie sich im extravaganten Gypsy-Look des „American Tribal Style“. Das Kostüm wiegt vier Kilo. Zwei ihrer silbernen Armreifen stammen von ihrer Großmutter.
